Ron Paul: A Life of Liberty and Activism
Early Life and Career
Ronald Ernest Paul was born on August 20, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Gettysburg College and Duke University School of Medicine, he established a successful medical practice in Texas.
Political Career
Paul first entered politics in 1974, winning a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Texas's 22nd congressional district. He served 12 non-consecutive terms in Congress, advocating for limited government, sound money, and individual freedom. Paul's independent views and outspoken nature often clashed with the Republican Party establishment.
Presidential Campaigns
Paul ran for President of the United States three times, in 1988, 2008, and 2012. Although he did not win the nomination, his campaigns garnered significant support among libertarians and conservatives. Paul's presidential bids helped popularize libertarian ideas and raised questions about the role of government in society.
